Bio
Donna C. Corbett, PsyD, is a licensed psychologist who helps people cope more effectively with life issues and mental health problems. Dr. Corbett is one of the psychologists with UC San Diego Health’s early psychosis program, which specializes in treating adolescents and young adults who are experiencing changes in their thoughts, behavior or emotions that might be associated with serious mental health issues.

Her areas of expertise include early predictors and treatment of psychosis; treating individuals with both a mental disorder and a substance abuse problem (dual diagnosis); and college counseling. She is also experienced in treating depression, anxiety and adjustment disorders.

Dr. Corbett believes in an approach that emphasizes each person’s unique strengths and fosters the development of coping skills and insight. Using psychotherapy with an emphasis on schema therapy, she helps patients organize and perceive their current knowledge or thoughts to improve their understanding in the future. Specifically, Dr. Corbett helps individuals understand the ways in which their early childhood experiences impact their current relationships and views of the world.

She completed her post-doctoral fellowship and pre-doctoral internship at the State Center Community College District in Fresno, Calif. Dr. Corbett earned her doctoral degree and master's degree in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Orange, Calif.

Dr. Corbett has served as a faculty advisor to Active Minds, a nonprofit organization aimed at reducing the stigma of mental illness on college campuses.
