About Anna Mercer, DO

Anna Mercer, DO is a neuromusculoskeletal medicine specialist who uses traditional osteopathic manual medicine to provide a hands-on approach to healing and wellness. She evaluates her patients' mental, physical and spiritual health and uses a comprehensive hands-on approach to gently address any structural imbalances that could impact patient function and contribute to their present condition.

Dr. Mercer has experience applying osteopathic manual medicine in both acute and chronic clinical settings and for a wide variety of conditions including but not limited to pregnancy, birth trauma (for mothers and newborns), pelvic pain, pre-operative optimization, post-operative healing, chronic pain, traumatic injuries, infections, respiratory conditions including respiratory failure, headaches, and other neurological disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, rheumatologic conditions, as well as mental health conditions. She has a special interest in the healing potentials of osteopathic medicine when applied to women and children.

Dr. Mercer also works as an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine where she educates both peers and students about the role of traditional osteopathic medicine.

Dr. Mercer completed her residency training in osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital Health System in the Bronx, N.Y., where she served as chief resident. She earned her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Dr. Mercer is an active member of the Osteopathic Cranial Academy and the American Academy of Osteopathy.

In her free time, Dr. Mercer loves to cuddle her cat, dance, do yoga, play board games, swim and hike with her friends and family. She continues to practice her conversational and clinical Spanish to better serve her community.
