About Michael Baldwin, DMSc, PA-C
Michael Baldwin is a certified physician assistant (PA-C) who supervises orthopedic advanced practice providers (APPs) at UC San Diego Health. He also has a general orthopedic practice seeing all ages and treating various types of orthopedic conditions.
Michael's approach to care is hands-on, understanding that patients want their dignity and are often in pain with a temporary or even permanent loss of control over their lives. Understanding this, he strives to provide high quality care with rapid, accurate diagnosis and proper treatment. Michael treats all patients and their families with compassion, empathy and respect. He feels it is an honor and privilege to provide orthopedic care to patients who are vulnerable and place their trust in him for care in their time of need.
He has decades of experience as a physician assistant, including 25 years of orthopedic experience with a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in orthopedic surgery. His start in medicine was as a US Navy Hospital corpsman stationed with the Marine Corps.
Michael completed a Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree at University of Lynchburg in Lynchburg, Va. and a master's degree at A.T. Still University/Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa, Ariz. He completed his undergraduate degree at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Michael also completed the physician assistant program at Stanford University Medical School in Palo Alto, Calif.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys physical fitness, surfing, skateboarding, wakeboarding, water skiing, scuba diving and sailing.
