Sean Johnson, MSW, DBH, LCSW, LICSW

Sean Johnson is a doctor of behavioral health and licensed clinical social worker with Integrated Behavioral Health at UC San Diego Health, where he collaborates with primary care physicians to delivery integrated, whole-person care. He provides time-limited and brief-behavioral interventions for those seeking psychological and/or behavioral help for conditions such as anxiety, depression, mood instability, grief, burnout and life adjustments. He sees a variety of individuals in ages ranging from adolescence to older adults.
Sean aims to create an environment reflective of his personal philosophy towards treatment where each individual feels heard and safe while addressing their issues with specific attention paid to values and acceptance. He uses a patient-centered, humanistic approach and gains great satisfaction in helping others improve their quality of life by collaboratively working with patients to reach their health goals.
He has training and experience in providing evidence-based treatment modalities such as acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy. Sean also believes in the importance of mindfulness and how such practices can further empower each individual to gain more control over their life.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Sean practiced as a psychotherapist at Southern California Psychology Centers and also in private practice.
Sean completed a Doctor of Behavioral Health degree at Arizona State University and a master's degree in social work at California State University, San Marcos. He completed undergraduate studies in sociology at California State University, Chico.
Apart from work, he enjoys creating music, exploring the outdoors, reading, watching horror films and spending time with his family.
