
About Yan (Ann) Xing, MD
Yan (Ann) Xing, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician who specializes in caring for hospitalized patients. As a hospitalist, Dr. Xing is assigned to patients at the time of admission and provides care only during their hospital stay. She does not see patients at outpatient clinics and is not available for appointments. Upon a patient's hospital discharge, Dr. Xing communicates with their regular physician to ensure quality care.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Xing practiced hospital medicine and home-based primary care at Scripps Memorial Hospital's Encinitas campus in the San Diego area.
Dr. Xing completed residency training in internal medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland. Dr. Xing also has a master's degree in biomedical imaging from UC San Francisco.
She is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.
As a former NBA reporter, she still enjoys basketball, along with other sports. She also enjoys travel, media and writing, and spending time with her husband and pets.
