About Rajiv D. Reddy, MD
Rajiv Reddy, MD, is a board-certified pain management specialist who evaluates, diagnoses and treats all forms of acute and chronic pain. He is also board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and has special expertise in helping people with orthopedic pain.
Dr. Reddy is part of UC San Diego Health's Center for Pain Medicine, which is recognized as a Clinical Center of Excellence in Pain Management by the American Pain Society. The pain center delivers comprehensive, multidisciplinary care to reduce suffering and improve function in individuals with spine-related pain, musculoskeletal pain, pelvic and abdominal pain, and pain due to surgery, injury and nerve damage.
Dr. Reddy is a compassionate practitioner and good listener who offers conservative treatments for back pain, joint pain and pain from sports injuries, as well as pelvic and abdominal pain. He performs neuromodulation, interventional spine procedures, regenerative medicine, intrathecal baclofen therapy for severe spasticity, and ultrasound- and fluoroscopically-guided procedures.
An associate physician in the Department of Anesthesiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Reddy conducts original research on a variety of pain-related topics, including spinal cord stimulation, regenerative medicine and treatment of knee osteoarthrosis. He also serves as program director for the pain fellowship.
Dr. Reddy was honored with the Meyer S. Gunther Resident Award in 2015 for displaying the art of listening, understanding and interacting with patients.
Dr. Reddy completed a fellowship in pain medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine where he also completed a NIH-funded post-doctoral research fellowship focused on neuromodulation and spinal cord injury-related pain. He completed residency training and was chief resident in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Northwestern University Medical School. He earned his medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine.
He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Association of Academic Physiatrists, American Academy of Pain Medicine, Spine Intervention Society, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, North American Neuromodulation Society, and California Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
Outside of work, Dr. Reddy enjoys traveling, the outdoors, keeping fit and spending time with his partner and their dog.
