About Ah-Reum (Autumn) Jeong, MD

Ah-Reum (Autumn) Jeong, MD, is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist who specializes in treating people with cancers of the blood and lymph system including leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. She is part of the joint UC San Diego Health / Sharp HealthCare Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BMT) Program, which provides patients with the unique opportunity to receive care from the same physician throughout all phases of blood cancer treatment. This includes initial diagnosis, treatment to help achieve remission, care during stem cell transplant procedures, and follow-up survivorship care.

She also offer chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy for various blood cancers. CAR T-cell therapy harnesses the patient's own immune cells to recognize and kill cancer cells. It is just one of many types of personalized cancer therapies offered at UC San Diego Health.

Dr. Jeong believes in helping patients achieve autonomy in their health by educating them about their diseases and helping them make informed decisions. She finds it rewarding to help patients go through extremely complicated and demanding therapies such as transplant and CAR T-cell therapy. She also believes clinical trials are critical in advancing cancer care and encourages patients to consider appropriate clinical trials.

As assistant professor in the department of medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine, she is actively involved in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Dr. Jeong completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology with certification in blood and marrow transplantation at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She completed an internal medicine residency at Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr. Jeong earned her medical degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. She is a member of the American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy.
