About Thomas Martin, MD
Thomas Martin, MD, is a board-certified infectious disease physician who specializes in caring for people with HIV. Dr. Martin finds time with his patients fulfilling. He welcomes any questions and challenges that patients may have and believes in shared-decision making. He provides honest assessments and recommendations but is committed to working with each person to set goals and treatment plans that are tailored to their unique approach to life, their priorities and their concerns.
Dr. Martin completed his fellowship training in infectious disease and residency training in internal medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He originally graduated from medical school in 2009 from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom and subsequently completed several years of training in the UK prior to moving to the United States. Dr. Martin has active research interests centered around the complications of HIV infection including metabolic changes and cardiovascular disease.
Outside of work, he enjoys surfing and sailing, playing the piano, reading and walking, and will enthusiastically join discussions about how to improve the healthcare experience around the world.
