Martin Luther Kabongo, MD, is a board-certified family medicine doctor. He provides primary care for patients of all ages, including preventive care and treatment of acute and chronic diseases.

As a professor of family medicine and public health, Dr. Kabongo is involved in training medical students and residents at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He is also involved in the policy of clinical medicine, serving as a member of the board of directors of the San Diego Academy of Family Practice. He spends a significant amount of time on the admissions committee of the UC San Diego School of Medicine.

Dr. Kabongo served as a teacher in homeless and refugee clinics around San Diego, educating medical students through clinical experiences. He also completed a sabbatical in New Zealand, where he practiced in a small village delivering primary care.

Dr. Kabongo was drawn to medicine at an early age by a fascination with the complexity of the human body. He enjoys melding the science of medicine with the art of healing. He says, "Knowing that I can make a difference in people's lives, especially when they are at their most vulnerable, is extremely rewarding."

Dr. Kabongo completed his residency training at Bon Secours Hospital. He earned his medical degree at University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine. He is board-certified in family medicine.
