About Jonathan McIntyre, MD

Jonathan McIntyre, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician who specializes in caring for hospitalized patients. As a hospitalist, Dr. McIntyre is assigned to patients at the time of admission and provides care only during their hospital stay. He does not see patients at outpatient clinics and is not available for appointments. Upon a patient's hospital discharge, Dr. McIntyre communicates with their regular physician to ensure quality care.

As an assistant professor of medicine, he works directly with residents on teach teams at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Dr. McIntyre also mentors first and second year medical students on practice history taking and physical examination skills. He is in a leadership position for the third year core internal medicine clerkship and involved in leading small group didactic discussions.

Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. McIntyre practiced hospital medicine at Montefiore Health System in Bronx, N.Y.

He completed his residency in internal medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital and earned his medical degree from University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, TX.
