Unna McPherson Albers, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine doctor. She provides primary care for adults, including preventive care and diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases. In 2009, 2011-2014, Dr. Albers was named a " Top Doc" in San Diego Magazine's " Physicians of Exceptional Excellence" annual survey performed in collaboration with the San Diego County Medical Society.
Dr. Albers has a special interest in women's health and preventive care. She believes that " educating patients about their illness is as important as the treatment of the illness" and emphasizes that patients who understand the process and participate in their care get better results.
As a clinical professor of medicine and a clinic site director for UC San Diego internal medicine residency program, Dr. Albers is involved in training medical students and residents at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She believes that improving the quality of training medical students and residents will impact our future in health care. She enjoys working in academic medicine where she has access to the latest clinical and therapeutic advances for her patients.
Dr. Albers completed her internship and residency training at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree at George Washington University. She is board certified in internal medicine.
When not at work, Dr. Albers enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering at an elementary school and taking part in outdoor activities.
