About Gerant Rivera-Sanfeliz, MD
Gerant Rivera-Sanfeliz, MD, is a board-certified vascular and interventional radiologist. His areas of expertise include varicose veins; uterine fibroids; uterine fibroid embolization; liver and biliary interventions; kidney cryoablation; genitourinary interventions; prostate artery embolization (PAE) for benign prostate hyperplasia; and cancer therapy.
He is experienced in minimally invasive procedures such as radiofrequency ablation and endovenous laser therapy. He also has clinical and research interests in aortic stent-grafts and portal hypertension.
Dr. Rivera-Sanfeliz educates medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He is a professor in the Department of Radiology and also serves as program director for the Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency and the Vascular and Interventional Radiology Fellowship.
After finishing his four-year active duty tour with the United States Air Force in 1996, Dr. Rivera-Sanfeliz completed a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at UCSF. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine and attended medical school at the University of Puerto Rico. He is board certified in diagnostic radiology and vascular and interventional radiology.
Dr. Rivera-Sanfeliz is an active member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe, the Puerto Rico Urological Society, the Cuban Imaging Society and the Veracruz Imaging Society.
