Nick H. Kim, MD, is section chief of the pulmonary vascular medicine program at UC San Diego Health. He specializes in the evaluation and treatment of people with all forms of pulmonary hypertension including pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). Dr. Kim serves as medical director of the Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy Program. He also helped establish the balloon pulmonary angioplasty program at UC San Diego Health to treat inoperable CTEPH.
UC San Diego is an internationally recognized center for the treatment of all forms of pulmonary hypertension.
As a professor in the UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Kim is active in clinical research, registries, and collaborations with translational research related to PAH and CTEPH. He is widely published in peer-reviewed medical journals. See Dr. Kim's publications.
Dr. Kim is also involved in training medical students, residents, and fellows in the evaluation and treatment of pulmonary hypertension. He previously served as pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship program director for nine years.
Dr. Kim completed his fellowship training at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency and earned his medical doctorate degree at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. Kim is currently board certified in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine.
