About Tahir I. Bhatti, MD
Tahir I Bhatti, MD, is a wellness physician at UC San Diego Health's Concierge Medicine program and Cardiac Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. As an integrative psychiatrist, Dr. Bhatti combines his traditional training with meditation, mindfulness, stress reduction techniques, life coaching, chi kung, t'ai chi, breath work, human design and bio-field therapies. He has been a meditation practitioner since 1991 and t'ai chi instructor since 1995.
Dr. Bhatti is an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine and has been a faculty member since 1997.
He completed a psychobiology and psychopharmacology clinical research fellowship at the VA San Diego Healthcare System. During this time, he conducted studies on complementary/alternative medicine, mood disorders, sleep disorders, and lucid dreaming. In 1996, Dr. Bhatti was awarded one of the first fellowships to explore alternative therapies at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Working with the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Psychiatry, he studied the effect of t'ai chi in patients with chronic low back pain.
Dr. Bhatti completed a residency in psychiatry at Rush Medical College, Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and a chief residency at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. He is board certified in psychiatry.
