About Timothy Morris, MD
Timothy Morris, MD, is a board-certified pulmonologist. He has a special interest in caring for patients with life-threatening pulmonary embolism and thromboembolic disease.
Dr. Morris is the medical director of the pulmonary function and exercise lab at UC San Diego Health. The pulmonary function and exercise lab provides noninvasive, state-of-the-art exercise and lung function tests to help determine oxygen needs and diagnosis lung disease in people who have breathing problems.
Dr. Morris is currently leading several laboratory and clinical research projects in new therapies and diagnostic techniques for acute pulmonary embolism. He maintains an active outpatient/inpatient/ICU practice.
As a professor of medicine, Dr. Morris is involved in training medical students, residents and fellows in pulmonary medicine. He has received six consecutive awards from the Department of Medicine for outstanding teaching. Dr. Morris has served as the chairman of the California Thoracic Society Education Committee for the past three years and is presently the president-elect of the organization.
He has been appointed to advisory committees on pulmonary embolism for both the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians.
Dr. Morris completed his residency at UC San Diego, School of Medicine, and at Georgetown University, School of Medicine, in Washington, D.C, where he also received his medical degree. He is board certified in pulmonology, critical care and internal medicine.
