About Leena Raj Kansal, MD
Leena Kansal, MD, is a board-certified neurologist who specializes in epilepsy. Her care focuses on the evaluation and treatment people with recurrent seizures and seizure disorders.
As an associate professor in the Department of Neurosciences, Dr. Kansal instructs medical students, residents and fellows. Her research interests are in treating drug-resistant epilepsy cases and finding methods to identify patients with epileptogenic zones within the brain that are receptive to surgery.
She completed a fellowship in neurophysiology with a focus in epilepsy at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she also did a residency in neurology. During this time, she was a recipient of the Golden Neuron Award for an outstanding resident and she served as chief resident. Dr. Kansal earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia where she received the Arthur Krieger Memorial Prize in Neurology. She is board certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy.
