Divya Bolar, MD, PhD, is a board-certified diagnostic radiologist specializing in neuroradiology. He is an expert in neurovascular imaging, including cerebral perfusion imaging with arterial spin labeling (ASL).
As an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology, Dr. Bolar instructs medical students, residents, and fellows in the Division of Neuroradiology. He additionally runs a laboratory at the UCSD Center for Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (CFMRI), where he is the associate director for clinical translational imaging. His research interests include developing and applying cutting-edge MRI techniques to image cerebral blood flow, oxygen metabolism, and microvascular pulsatility in normal subjects and patients with neuropathology. Dr. Bolar mentors graduate students and post-doctoral fellows on these projects.
Dr. Bolar completed fellowship training in neuroradiology and residency training in diagnostic radiology at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and PhD in electrical and biomedical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He is a member of several professional societies including the American College of Radiology, the American Board of Radiology, and the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. Dr. Bolar is board certified in diagnostic radiology and also holds a certificate of added qualification in neuroradiology.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young boys, seeing live music, and playing guitar.
