About Ildiko Kovacs, MD
Ildiko Kovacs, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in caring for individuals and couples experiencing issues related to sexual function, sexuality and gender.
Her clinical focus is on addressing the psychiatric, behavioral, relationship, cultural and religious factors that may impact sexual wellness, including individuals with HIV/AIDS, who she sees at UC San Diego Health's Owen Clinic.
Dr. Kovacs offers a range of personalized treatment approaches for individuals or couples with sexual health concerns. She is certified to prescribe flibanserin (Addyi) – the first drug approved to treat hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) – and also offers non-pharmacological approaches to treating this condition.
An assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Kovacs works to educate medical students and residents in psychiatry and is also actively involved in clinical research related to sexual dysfunction and various psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Kovacs completed her residency training in psychiatry at UC San Diego and sexual medicine training at Oxford University. She earned her medical degree from Semmelweis Medical University, Budapest. She is board-certified in psychiatry and is a fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine.
