About Henry A. Ferreyra, MD
Henry Ferreyra, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist whose expertise is in treating all types of diseases and conditions of the retina, including retinal dystrophies, paraneoplastic / autoimmune retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), a potentially blinding disease that primarily affects premature infants. He also uses ocular electrophysiology to obtain information about eye health that goes beyond standard eye testing.
As a professor of ophthalmology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, he conducts original research and clinical trials to improve treatments for people with eye disease.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health in 2007, Dr. Ferreyra was an ophthalmologist at VA San Diego Healthcare System.
Dr. Ferreyra completed fellowship training in retinal dystrophy and electroretinography at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center. He completed fellowship training in vitreoretinal diseases and residency training in ophthalmology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He also earned his medical degree from UC San Diego School of Medicine.
Outside of work, he enjoys running, hiking and traveling.
