
About Nikhil R. Gandhi, MD, FACP
Nikhil Gandhi, MD, FACP, is a board-certified internal medicine physician who specializes in caring for hospitalized patients. As a hospitalist, Dr. Gandhi is assigned to patients at the time of admission and provides care only during their hospital stay. He does not see patients at outpatient clinics and is not available for appointments. Upon a patient's discharge, Dr. Gandhi communicates with their regular physician to ensure quality care.
As an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, he instructs medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
Before joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Gandhi practiced internal medicine at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego and at Garrison Memorial Hospital in Garrison, N.D.
Dr. Gandhi completed his residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Mich. He earned his medical degree from Topiwala National Medical College in Mumbai, India. He is board certified in internal medicine and in hospice and palliative medicine.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).
