About Esmatullah Esmat Hatamy, MD

Esmatullah Hatamy, MD, is a board-certified family medicine doctor. He provides primary care for patients of all ages, including preventive care and treatment of acute and chronic diseases.

Dr. Hatamy says, "Caring for the whole family and seeing the patient as a whole, not just as his or her physical illness, is what I like about being a family physician. I like a shared decision-making process, and want my patients to be partners in their own care." Dr. Hatamy enjoys being in a rich academic environment because it gives him the opportunity to be up to date on the latest advances in medicine.

As an associate professor of family medicine and public health, he is involved in training medical students and residents at UC San Diego School of Medicine.

Dr. Hatamy completed his residency training at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He earned his medical degree at State Medical Institute Kabul. He is board-certified in family medicine.
