Emily Lukacz, MD, is a board-certified urogynecologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating female pelvic floor disorders such as pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence. She sees patients at UC San Diego Health's Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, which provides comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for women with pelvic floor disorders.
Dr. Lukacz enjoys the daily personal interaction she has with her patients and feels that it's both a pleasure and privilege to help improve the quality of their lives. In addition to her strong commitment to her patients, Dr. Lukacz is highly committed to training the next generation of physicians and surgeons.
As a professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at UC San Diego School of Medicine, she teaches medical students, residents and fellows the critical aspects of providing care for women with pelvic floor disorders in the clinic and operating room settings. Dr. Lukacz also serves as the division director and fellowship training program director of the female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery program. She is a principal investigator for two large multicentered National Institutes of Health research networks actively engaged in innovative and impactful research in the field. Her research interests include the evaluation of surgical procedures for incontinence and prolapse, as well as epidemiologic research on the causes and prevention of pelvic floor disorders.
Dr. Lukacz is fellowship trained and board certified in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. She completed both her residency and fellowship training at UC San Diego School of Medicine after earning her medical degree from University of Michigan School of Medicine. She holds a master's degree in clinical research from UC San Diego.
In her free time, Dr. Lukacz enjoys entertaining, cooking, travel and spending time with her husband and her dogs on the beach.
