About Bryan J. Sandler, MD, FACS

Bryan Sandler, MD, is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in treating patients with disorders of the foregut, esophagus, gastric or biliary system and small intestine. In addition to performing hindgut surgery for colon and rectal disorders, Dr. Sandler has specialized training in advanced hernia operations, abdominal wall reconstruction and weight loss surgery. His areas of expertise also include minimally invasive and robotic surgery, and natural orifice surgery.

As an associate professor in the Department of Surgery, Dr. Sandler instructs medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, and his work has appeared in medical journals for surgery, gastroenterology and the surgical treatment of obesity.

Dr. Sandler completed a fellowship at UC San Diego School of Medicine and a residency in general surgery at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Sandler is board certified in general surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
