About Rebecca C. Garrett-Brown, MSN, CNM
Rebecca C. Garrett-Brown, MSN, is a certified nurse-midwife (CNM) who provides family-centered maternity care, along with well-woman care, family planning and other services. She delivers babies in our holistic, in-hospital birth center or in the traditional labor and delivery environment, depending on the desires and needs of her patients.
Ms. Garrett-Brown has delivered more than 2,100 babies in both teaching hospitals and in the homes of her patients. She feels it is both a privilege and an honor to be present and share in these life-changing events.
She also has a special interest in complementary therapies, including homeopathy, and is a certified healing touch practitioner.
She received the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) Regional Excellence Award in 2000 and the ACNM Preceptor of the Year Award in 2014 for her work in teaching student nurse-midwives.
Before joining UC San Diego Health, Ms. Garrett-Brown spent 20 years caring for military families as a certified nurse-midwife at Naval Medical Center San Diego.
She earned her master's degree in nursing from the University of California, San Francisco.
She lives with her husband, teenage son and yellow lab in Rancho Santa Fe. When not at work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, cycling, swimming, going to the beach, cross-stitching, needlepointing and reading.
