Prerana Bhatia, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician who provides comprehensive care for the management and prevention of cardiovascular disease. She provides both outpatient and inpatient cardiovascular care and specializes in cardiac imaging. She has special interests in heart disease prevention and women's cardiovascular health.
Dr. Bhatia provides patient-centered care and enjoys learning about each individual patient's goals and priorities. She is a partner and educator for each patient and empowers them with knowledge about their cardiac condition and how to prevent heart disease. Dr. Bhatia enjoys working with young adults for prevention and treatment of common conditions. She also feels privileged to work with older patients and their families for managing chronic conditions, acute illness or guiding them during important transitions in their lives.
As an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Bhatia is involved in the training and education of medical students, residents and fellows.
Dr. Bhatia completed fellowship training in cardiovascular medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine where she served as chief fellow. She also completed residency training in internal medicine at UC San Diego. Dr. Bhatia earned her medical degree from University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. She is board certified in internal medicine.
She is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.
In her free time, Dr. Bhatia enjoys tennis, hiking, baking and cooking.
