About Jason O. Heaton, MD, FACOG
Jason O. Heaton, MD is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist who provides comprehensive care to women, including maternity care and common gynecological issues such as abnormal bleeding, family planning, menopause, abnormal Pap smears and fibroids.
Dr. Heaton believes in patient centered care and strives to tailor healthcare that provides the best outcome for each individual patient. He enjoys educating patients on treatment options and working with them to ensure successful outcomes.
As a professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Heaton instructs medical students, residents and fellows. On two occasions, he has been awarded the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology & Council on Residency Education's National Faculty Teaching award. He has taught several courses on obstetrical emergencies as well as contraception including the use of intrauterine devices and contraceptive implants.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Heaton served as an OB/GYN in the U.S. Navy for twenty-three years. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. Dr. Heaton earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Heaton is a fellow of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics as well as the Society for Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In his free time, Dr. Heaton enjoys spending time with his family, running on local trails, and hiking in our beautiful national parks.
