About Nora Mitchell, LCSW
Nora Mitchell, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker who is part of the college mental health program, providing therapy to UC San Diego students at the undergraduate, graduate and medical school levels. Nora focuses on helping clients develop concrete, actionable skills to change entrenched harmful behaviors and build a life that is worth living.
She particularly enjoys using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to help clients balance the strategies of acceptance and change to improve wellbeing.
Nora has previously worked in outpatient mental health for the County governments in Los Angeles and San Diego, including individual therapy, group therapy, case management, and treatment planning for adults with serious and persistent mental illness.
Nora obtained both her master's degree in social welfare and bachelor's degree in psychology from UCLA.
Outside of work, Nora enjoys tabletop roleplaying games, board games, trivia leagues, cross stitching, reading sci-fi and fantasy novels, and spending time with her two cats.
