About Dawn Eichenfield, MD, PhD
Dawn Eichenfield, MD, PhD, is a board-certified dermatologist and pediatric dermatologist who specializes in pediatric dermatology and adult acne.
As an assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Eichenfield trains medical students, interns, and residents. She is also founding director of the acne specialty clinic within the department.
She works to advance clinical and translational research through studies focusing on acne vulgaris, pediatric dermatology, and laser medicine. Her unique background allows her to offer her patients the most advanced and personalized skin care treatments.
Dr. Eichenfield completed her fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. During her residency at UC San Diego School of Medicine, she served as chief dermatology resident. Dr. Eichenfield also earned her medical degree and doctoral degree from UC San Diego's medical scientist training program. She obtained her bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she studied biology and psychology and conducted research in both immunology and bioengineering.
She is a member of many professional societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society of Pediatric Dermatology and the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance, among others.
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking and reading with her husband and two daughters.
