About Elsie Ross, MD, MS, RPVI, FAHA
Elsie Ross, MD, is a board-certified vascular surgeon and research scientist with a passion for improving healthcare and advancing medical knowledge. Dr. Ross specializes in the full gamut of vascular care with a special emphasis on minimally invasive techniques to improve blood flow to the lower extremities and carotid arteries and to treat aortic occlusive disease, aneurysms, and dissections. She also treats central and peripheral venous disorders and creates and manages dialysis access, including percutaneous access creation.
Dr. Ross understands that vascular conditions have varied treatment options, and she produces excellent outcomes using evidenced-based approaches and inclusive care models that encompass shared decision-making with patients and their families.
As an associate professor of surgery at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Ross leads a federally funded research program focused on developing precision healthcare delivery using artificial intelligence and big data to reduce the overall burden of vascular disease and address healthcare disparities.
Dr. Ross completed her vascular surgery residency at Stanford University where she also completed her medical degree and undergraduate degree. She has a Master of Science degree in health policy, planning and financing from the London School of Economics and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in biomedical informatics.
