About A. Rolando Peralta, MD
A. Rolando Peralta, MD, is a board-certified pulmonologist who specializes in interventional pulmonology. He performs minimally invasive procedures for diagnosis and treatment of lung and pleural diseases. These include malignant and benign diseases of the lung, such as lung cancer, sarcoidosis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis and other conditions.
He is director of the lung nodule program which includes a team of healthcare providers that see patients with lung nodules, usually discovered on a chest x-ray or a cat scan. In partnership with patients, the team develops a diagnostic and treatment plan. The goal of the program is to identify cancer early so that it is treatable.
Dr. Peralta chose to specialize in interventional pulmonology because it's an area that uses innovation and evolving technologies to find new ways to help patients. Cases that previously needed major surgery, can now be treated using minimally invasive techniques in interventional pulmonology.
He completed a fellowship in interventional pulmonology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He completed fellowships in pulmonary and critical care at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, where he also completed a residency in internal medicine. Dr. Peralta earned his medical degree from Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil in Ecuador.
He is board certified in internal medicine, critical care medicine, pulmonary disease, and interventional pulmonology.
Dr. Peralta is fluent in Spanish and English.
