Kimberly Hong, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist specializing in treating patients with advanced heart failure, including those requiring mechanical circulatory support or heart transplantation, and those with genetic cardiomyopathies. Dr. Hong serves as the medical director of quality for heart transplantation.
As an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Hong is also actively involved in clinical research on genetic cardiomyopathies and related gene therapies, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, and outcomes research focused on improving outcomes in advanced heart failure patients.
Dr. Hong completed her fellowship in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and transplant cardiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She completed a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, where she also completed her residency in internal medicine. Dr. Hong earned her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. She also holds a master's degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in Ann Arbor.
She is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and the Heart Failure Society of America.
Dr. Hong is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, and echocardiography.
