About M. Monjur Alam, MD, MHA

M. Monjur Alam, MD, MHA, is a board-certified family medicine physician dedicated to providing full-spectrum primary care for patients of all ages, including children, adults and seniors. He is experienced in managing complex wounds. His practice emphasizes preventive care, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions, including hypertension, heart disease, endocrine conditions like diabetes, thyroid disorder, lung diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, skin disease and gastrointestinal conditions. He also has interest in pediatric and women's health issues, musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, and behavioral health conditions, including depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Dr. Alam also performs skin procedures like biopsies, lesion removals and joint injections.

Listening to his patients is a top priority. Dr. Alam considers patients as partners in treatment planning and decision making and aims to build a trustworthy, long-term clinical relationship with them. He also has experience in physician leadership and clinical practice management. Helping the health system function better for patients, providers and staff is one of his overarching goals.

Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Alam cared for patients at Abrazo Medical Group Parkway in Scottsdale, Ariz., the Abrazo Health Wound Care clinic in Phoenix and Sanford Health in East Grand Forks, Minn. He also has taught at the Abrazo Family Medicine Residency Program in Phoenix.

Dr. Alam completed a fellowship in primary care faculty development at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix. He did his residency in family medicine at University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire, Wis. He also holds a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Phoenix in Arizona and medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Rajshahi's Rangpur Medical College in Rangpur, Bangladesh. He is board certified in family medicine.

Dr. Alam is a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) from the American Association of Physicians Leadership, and holds certification in wound care from the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy.

He is a member of the American College of Physicians. He also speaks Hindi and Bengali.

In his free time, Dr. Alam enjoys spending time with his family and friends, performing arts, traveling with his wife and experiencing different cultures and cuisines.
