About Reid Oldenburg, MD, PhD
Reid Oldenburg, MD, PhD is a board-certified dermatologist who treats both complex and general dermatology, including conditions such as skin cancers, acne, rosacea, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, severe cutaneous adverse reactions, skin infections and more.
Dr. Oldenburg takes a stepwise approach to diagnosis and management of complex diseases by listening and developing personalized plans with patients.
As an assistant professor of dermatology, he is involved in the training and education of medical students and residents at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Outside of clinic, he is dedicated to using translational scientific approaches and clinical trials to study the immunopathogenesis of severe cutaneous adverse reactions such as drug induced hypersensitivity syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis and reactive infectious mucocutaneous eruptions. He is also investigating novel therapeutics for the treatment of keloids.
Dr. Oldenburg completed his residency at UC San Diego School of Medicine and his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He also completed a doctorate in immunology at the Pasteur Institute in collaboration with Université Paris Cité.
He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance.
In his free time, Dr. Oldenburg enjoys attending local live music shows and festivals, boogie boarding, farmer's markets and skiing.
