Danielle Thompson, MA, CCC-SLP

Danielle Thompson, MA, CCC-SLP is a speech-language pathologist with expertise in managing complex communication and swallowing disorders.

She is passionate about serving patients with head and neck cancer and strives to improve patients' quality of life in the areas of both swallowing and communication. She has a special interest in total laryngectomy rehabilitation and completed a year-long Frontline Leadership Academy project in this area. She more recently earned her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

Prior to her role as part of UC San Diego Health's multidisciplinary cancer team, she worked for 10 years at UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest serving a variety of patient populations including trauma, burn, stroke and neurodegenerative disorders. Prior to that, she worked at Hoag Hospital in Orange County.

Danielle earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees at San Diego State University, minored in Spanish and holds a certificate of clinical competency in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She is an MBSImP and SpeakOut! certified clinician, is a member of ASHA's swallowing special interest group, Medical SLP Collective and National Foundation of Swallowing Disorders.

In her free time, Danielle enjoys camping, photography and spending time with her family including her three sons.
