About Justin Seltzer, MD

Justin Seltzer, MD, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and medical toxicologist. He treats patients in the emergency department, including those with life-threatening or critical conditions. His care may include evaluation, resuscitation, stabilization, and referring patients to appropriate medical departments. As a medical toxicologist, he also provides bedside assessment and management of both inpatients and outpatients with poisonings, overdoses, bites, stings, and related illnesses.

As an assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Seltzer instructs medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. His research interests primarily focus on pharmaceutical drug toxicity and antidote exploration. Additional interests include envenomations and antivenoms as well as carbon monoxide poisoning.

Dr. Seltzer completed a fellowship in medical toxicology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He completed a residency in emergency medicine at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. He earned his medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California.
