About Ellen Chen, MD, FAAP

Ellen Chen, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician providing care through the Children's Primary Care Medical Group. She is a member of UC San Diego Health Physician Network.

UC San Diego Health Physician Network is an alliance of health care providers based in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties. Members of the network collaborate on developing shared systems, infrastructure and quality initiatives to provide high-value health care in the region.

As a pediatrician, Dr. Chen provides primary care for infants, children and young adults. She has always loved being around children and science was her favorite subject in school. Practicing pediatrics for over 20 years, she enjoys the continuity of care and watching children grow and mature. Dr. Chen wants parents to trust their instincts with their children and also feel comfortable asking her questions when they need help.

Dr. Chen completed her residency at University of Texas, Houston and earned her medical degree at Northwestern University Medical School. She is board certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP).

Outside of work, Dr. Chen enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, and they love to travel and ski together. She also likes to read, knit, sew and volunteer at a local ballet company making costumes.
