Audra Robertson Meadows, MD, is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist who provides comprehensive gynecological care. For nearly 20 years, she has provided compassionate care to women before, during, and after pregnancy to ensure positive pregnancy and birth experiences. She enjoys and values the opportunity to optimize wellness for women and birthing individuals, train learners, and inspire innovation in women's health and pregnancy care.
As an obstetrician/gynecologist trained in public health, she is a birth optimizer and health equity champion. She is nationally recognized for her work to innovate prenatal care, promote teaming in maternity care, and develop tools that improve obstetric safety and achieve equity.
As an associate professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at UC San Diego School of Medicine, she devotes time to medical education, residency training, research and women's health advocacy. She is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to investigate strategies to optimize pregnancy care and experiences with a particular emphasis on including the voices of those pregnant and parenting in identifying these strategies. Dr. Meadows is actively engaged in quality improvement projects to promote teaming and tools that improve obstetric safety and equity.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, she was an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, served as medical director of the Brigham and Women's Hospital obstetrics practice, and led maternal child health programs in Massachusetts.
Dr. Meadows completed obstetrics and gynecology residency training at The Brigham & Women's Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital Integrated Program at Harvard Medical School. She completed her medical degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio. She was awarded the Commonwealth Fund Fellowship in Health Equity Leadership and a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health.
Outside of work, Dr. Meadows enjoys exploring San Diego beaches, travel, and sports.
