About Lalita Khaodhiar Tantisira, MD
Lalita Khaodhiar Tantisira, MD, is an endocrinologist who helps patients lose weight and improve their health through lifestyle changes and FDA-approved weight loss medications. As part of the weight management program, she helps patients reach their weight loss goals and provides tools and support to maintain their weight loss.
Dr. Khaodhiar also works with patients on weight loss after bariatric (weight loss) surgery. She works closely with the bariatric surgical team to determine the best treatment for these patients, such as lifestyle modification, medications or revisional bariatric surgery.
Previously, Dr. Khaodhiar worked for 15 years as a nutrition and obesity medicine specialist at Boston Medical Center and Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where she ran a busy medical weight management clinic.
As an associate professor of medicine in the UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Khaodhiar trains medical students, interns and residents.
Dr. Khaodhiar completed fellowships in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and in clinical nutrition at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She did her residency in internal medicine at the University of Hawaii.
She earned her medical degree in her native Thailand at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok.
