About Misha Michael Horowitz, MD, PhD

Misha (Michael) Horowitz, MD, PhD, is a board-certified radiologist who interprets chest radiographs, chest computed tomography (CT), computed tomography angiography (CTA), coronary and cardiac CTA, chest and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exams for patients at UC San Diego Health. He assists thoracic oncology physicians in the staging of intra- and extrathoracic cancers and carefully looks for signs of recurrent or residual disease on follow-up examinations after treatment. Dr. Horowitz also performs fluoroscopic examinations of diaphragm muscular function, most often in the pre- or post- lung transplant setting. These procedures are particularly impactful for him as they are rare instances where he interacts face-to-face with patients.

Radiologists generally operate behind the scenes so his aim is to be part of a strong team delivering high-quality patient care. Dr. Horowitz enjoys the great collaborative environment at UC San Diego Health - working with pulmonologists, cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons to manage patients with congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension. They hold regular conferences to guide decisions regarding interventional and endovascular procedures and surgeries.

As an assistant professor of radiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Horowitz loves training and working with residents. He learns from them as well and finds it extremely rewarding as a teacher seeing the residents grow from year to year.

Dr. Horowitz completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic imaging and a residency in diagnostic radiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree at University Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Conn. Dr. Horowitz is board certified in diagnostic radiology.

He is a member of the American Board of Radiology, the American College of Radiology, and the Radiologic Society of North America (RSNA).

Dr. Horowitz personal interests include ultimate Frisbee, travel, music, good food and good company.
