About Jennifer Y. Lin, MD

Jennifer Y. Lin, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist who believes in translating the latest research to offer personalized care to her patients. Her interest has been in the melanocyte, the cell that provides pigment in the skin: both when it is dysregulated as in a mole/nevus or skin cancer, and when it causes pigmentation problems. Dr. Lin's clinical focus involves caring for patients who are diagnosed with melanoma and atypical nevi. She also utilizes the latest laser and injectable techniques when appropriate for her patients.

Dr. Lin is an associate professor in dermatology and director of the Melanoma Risk and Prevention Clinic which is designed for patients who are at high risk of developing melanoma and offers total body photography. She has published research on melanoma as well as on lasers and light-based therapies.

Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Lin was an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School and provided patient care at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Lin received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed her residency training in dermatology at the Harvard combined program in dermatology. She completed a prestigious laser/photomedicine in dermatology clinical fellowship at The Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital. She also completed a research fellowship in melanocyte biology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Dr. Lin is board certified in dermatology and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery and Society of Melanoma Research.
