Jenny Y. Zhou, MD, is a board-certified hematologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders. She has a special interest in caring for patients who have congenital bleeding and thrombotic conditions and is the director of the Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) Center of Excellence at UC San Diego Health. She also heads a monthly multidisciplinary clinic with OB/GYN for women with bleeding disorders.
As an assistant professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Zhou trains medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She finds satisfaction in teaching, patient care and basic and translational research. Dr. Zhou's research interests include exploring the pathophysiology and potential role of biomarkers in hemophilic joint bleeding. She has published in several peer-reviewed medical journals and presented at national and international conferences.
Dr. Zhou completed fellowships in hematology and oncology as chief fellow and in hemostasis and thrombosis at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She did her residency in internal medicine at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. She holds a medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas. She is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology.
She is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Society of Hematology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society.
In her free time, she enjoys running, traveling, photography and spending time with friends and family.
