About Kaitlyn Egan, PsyD

Kaitlyn Egan, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in child and adolescent mental health. She treats a wide variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, suicidality, nonsuicidal self-injury, eating disorders and behavioral issues. She is committed to providing research-backed care and is trained in a number of evidence-based interventions, her favorite of which is dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Her therapeutic approach is empathic, collaborative, and authentic, and she tailors her interventions to fit the unique needs of each individual or family. She also strongly believes in including caregivers in treatment, so they know how to best support their child outside of the therapy room.

Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Egan was a psychologist and clinic director at Peninsula Behavioral Health, a Bay Area group practice that she remains a part of today. She also served as an adjunct faculty member at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she completed her postdoctoral fellowship.

Dr. Egan completed her doctoral degree at Baylor University and her internship at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Chicago.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Egan enjoys supervising practicum students and postdoctoral fellows. She is a member of Division 53 of the American Psychological Association: the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP).

In her free time, Dr. Egan enjoys spending time with friends and family, listening to live music, mindfully completing paint-by-numbers and playing with her dog.
