About Daphna M. Finn, MD, MS

Daphna Finn, MD, is board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist at UC San Diego Health's Eating Disorder Center for Treatment and Research. She sees patients in the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs with a wide range of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder.

She also evaluates and treats co-occurring conditions, such as mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder, and autism spectrum disorder.

Dr. Finn has extensive experience with medications to treat pediatric mental health conditions, expertise in the medical complications of eating disorders, as well as training in a variety of evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, family-based therapy and motivational interviewing.

Dr. Finn enjoys fostering openness, trust and curiosity with her patients and partnering with families to better understand their child and provide practical treatment recommendations in challenging circumstances. She enjoys helping younger children reestablish themselves on a positive developmental trajectory and guiding adolescents toward their values and goals to promote lasting wellness, joy and flexibility.

She completed fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital where she was a chief fellow, as well as a clinical fellow of Harvard Medical School. She completed residency training in psychiatry at UC San Diego School of Medicine where she also earned her medical degree. She also holds a Master of Science in clinical psychology from Northwestern University.
Dr. Finn is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, reading, hiking, arts and crafts projects and traveling.
