About Bryce Duchman, MD
Bryce Duchman, MD, is a board-certified pulmonologist and critical care physician who treats critically ill patients with conditions such as shock, sepsis, acute respiratory failure, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, acute respiratory distress syndrome, acute kidney injury, acute livery injury, drug overdose, heart failure exacerbation or metabolic disorders. He has special interests in point-of-care ultrasound, ventilator management and pulmonary oncology.
Dr. Duchman finds it rewarding to build relationships with people – his patients, their family members and his colleagues. He enjoys sharing the joys of a patient's dramatic recovery. He also embraces opportunities to guide patients and family members through challenging times and decisions in the intensive care unit.
As an assistant professor of medicine at UC San Diego Health School of Medicine, he is involved in the education and training of medical students, residents and fellows. His research interests include smoking-related lung disease and radiation-induced lung injury.
Dr. Duchman completed a fellowship in pulmonology and critical care medicine at University of Iowa College of Medicine, where he also completed residency training, served as a chief resident, and earned his medical degree. He is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease. He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Thoracic Society.
