About Yuri Shindo, MD
Yuri Shindo, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician who specializes in caring for hospitalized patients. As a hospitalist, Dr. Shindo is assigned to patients at the time of admission and provides care only during their hospital stay. She does not see patients at outpatient clinics and is not available for appointments. Upon a patient's hospital discharge, Dr. Shindo communicates with their regular physician to ensure quality care.
Dr. Shindo's interests include medical education, quality improvement and addiction medicine. She is a preceptor at the UC San Diego Free Clinic where she teaches medical students and provides primary care to the local underserved community. She also serves as the medical director of the Union of Pan Asian Communities, a country-contracted drug and alcohol treatment program.
Dr. Shindo completed her residency training in internal medicine at the Cleveland VA Medical Center where she served as chief resident. She obtained her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine where she found a passion for serving the medically complex and underserved population of Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Shindo received her undergraduate degree in microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics from UC Los Angeles. She is board certified in internal medicine.
Dr. Shindo is bilingual and speaks both English and conversational Japanese.
