Rachna Subramony, MD, is a board-certified emergency medicine physician. She provides care to patients of all ages and backgrounds at UC San Diego Health Emergency Departments in Hillcrest and La Jolla and at urgent care locations in Rancho Bernardo and La Jolla.
Dr. Subramony enjoys working in an academic medical center as it allows her to practice evidence-based medicine and participate in training the next generation of physicians which she finds extremely gratifying. She is currently director of the emergency medicine ultrasound clerkship at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, she served as the emergency department ultrasound director and the director of resident and student education at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey.
She pursued a fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at North Shore University Hospital. She is passionate about ultrasound and its use in emergent conditions. She graduated from the physician-scientist accelerated seven-year medical program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College with a distinction in research.
In her free time, Dr. Subramony enjoys traveling, cooking, spending time with her family. She speaks Gujarati fluently.
