About Lisa Richards, MSN, FNP-BC, AF-AASLD
Lisa Richards, MSN, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-BC) who provides care for hepatology patients with a variety of liver diagnoses. She specializes in metabolic dysfunction steatotic liver disease (MASLD) with Dr. Rohit Loomba. Ms. Richards has over 20 years of experience as a hepatology nurse practitioner and has worked with Dr. Loomba since 2009.
As associate director of clinical research operations for UC San Diego's NAFLD Research Center, she provides general medical oversight with research coordinators. She is a sub-investigator on investigator and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
Ms. Richards has received numerous patient and division recognitions for her outstanding professional contributions. In 2009, she was awarded the inaugural Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year award at UC San Diego.
She is a member of American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), was inducted into the inaugural class and awarded the associate fellow designation (AF-AASLD). She has served as a committee member in AASLD for the hepatology associate committee and co-chaired the hepatology associate course. Additionally, she served on the membership/mentorship committee and as chair of the hepatology associate special interest group.
Ms. Richards received her bachelor and master's of science degree in nursing, magna cum laude, from the University of San Diego.
