About Kirstin Snyder, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Kirstin Snyder, MSN, is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) who works with the college mental health program and provides care for transitional age youth (TAY), including treatment for depression, mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, psychosis, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She also provides care for children and teenagers, including treatment for neurodevelopmental disorders and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD).

Ms. Snyder enjoys working with children and young adults because she can make a positive impact at a crucial time in their lives. She believes everyone has unique experiences and collaborates with patients and their support systems to create individualized treatment plans. She finds it rewarding to support people in their time of need.

Before joining UC San Diego Health, she was a nurse at Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, Texas, Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore, Md., the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and other places around the country as a traveling nurse.

Ms. Snyder completed a nurse practitioner fellowship at UC San Diego's Child-Adolescent Psychiatric Fellowship Program, where she served patients in multiple sites in different settings, including UC San Diego's Eating Disorder Clinic, Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego's psychiatry emergency department and behavioral health urgent care, and San Diego Family Care's community clinic.

She completed a master's degree in nursing from at University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor's degree in nursing at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Ms. Snyder is a board certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner and a certified pediatric nurse.

She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Psychiatric Nurses Association and Society of Pediatric Nurses.

In her free time, Ms. Snyder enjoys hiking, walking her dogs, reading, going to the beach, traveling and trying new restaurants.
