About Harpreet S. Bhatia, MD, MAS, FACC
Harpreet S. Bhatia, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist who provides comprehensive care for the management and prevention of cardiovascular disease. He is passionate about preventing cardiovascular disease and helping to maintain optimal health in patients. He also finds the constant change and evolution of medicine rewarding, and enjoys being on the cutting edge to provide the best available care to patients.
As an assistant professor of medicine, he is involved in training medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He is also the assistant program director for the integrated cardiovascular epidemiology T32 fellowship. His research interests includes prevention of cardiovascular diseases, especially related to lipids and Lipoprotein(a), and the use and improvement of coronary artery calcium scoring. He receives grant support for his research from the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Bhatia was chief fellow during his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where he also completed a master's degree in clinical research. He completed residency training in internal medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Bhatia earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.
He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is also a member of the American Heart Association and the American Society for Preventive Cardiology. Dr. Bhatia is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and echocardiography.
In his free time, he enjoys photography.
