About Joshua "Yoshi" Rothman, MD

Joshua "Yoshi" Rothman, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician who provides primary care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to age 22. He is particularly interested in preventive health, nutrition and behavioral health.

As an assistant professor of pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine, he is involved in the training and education of medical students, residents and fellows. His research interests include improvement in the delivery of preventive health care, population health, and optimizing the electronic health record to improve the health of patients.

Dr. Rothman completed his residency at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He earned his medical degree from Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He obtained a master's degree in biochemical and molecular nutrition from The Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University in Boston. Dr. Rothman is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, making homemade tacos, hiking at the Torrey Pines Reserve, watching the hometown Padres at Petco Park and exploring all that the San Diego restaurant scene has to offer. He speaks Spanish fluently.
